2000 College Football Contest Rules 1. First phase: pick the teams which will beat the spread (NOT just the game winners) in all the regular season games listed on this form. Picks will be graded against an arbitrary point spread determined by the Commissioner during the preseason (based on the Sagarin ratings in fall 2000), and posted on the pick sheet.
2. Then, after picking the games, rank each week's games from 6 to 1, based on your confidence in your picks. (6 would be your best bet; 1 would be the pick you had the least confidence in.) If a week has 7 games, rank them from 7 to 1. Do not duplicate numbers; each game in a given week should have it's own ranking. (You can't rank them all as 7s or 1s, for example.)
3. There will be a second phase of the contest for the second half of the season. About one week before the second half of the contest begins, new point spreads will be created for the second half games, and those will be given to the contestants. Then they will be allowed to submit picks and rankings for those games. If anyone does not submit picks for the second half, they will lose all games not picked. Your pick sheet will state when the second half of the season begins, so be aware of this date. 4. There will be a third phase of the contest for the bowl games. The point spreads will be established after the matchups are made. Games will be grouped together roughly sequentially, so that you can rank them 6 to 1. If anyone does not submit their bowl picks by a given date, they will not be eligible for bowl points. 5. Whoever scores the most "greenbucks" from regular season and bowl games, will be the contest winner. There will be no payout; this is not gambling! The contest is free and open to all owners in other Greenbears leagues. (Postage may cost extra -- ask the Commissioner if you wish to receive updates through postal mail.) Deadline for postmarked entries is 8 a.m., Friday, August 25. Don't call in for results during the contest, please. You will receive a list of all players' picks, so you can also keep score yourself. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Directions: simply write in or circle your pick from the games list; choose the team which you think will beat the point spread in each game. Then rank the games in each week or group from 6 to 1 (or 7 to 1, if necessary.) For a list of games, consult the pick sheet. This page was last updated on 8/13/00. |
