Greenbears Basketball Champions

We couldn't have a group of fantasy leagues in Indiana without basketball. Unfortunately, the pro league never really caught on until 1996, probably because the Indiana Pacers were struggling for so many years.

The college basketball contests always got everyone's interest instead. In fact, we didn't have a pro basketball league at all in 1992. There was so little interest in 1995, we almost gave up on pro basketball. But in 1996, it suddenly took off and we had 10 teams, our largest contest of any kind, ever!

In 1994, we began the "head-to-head" playing concept with pro basketball, and that made it much more interesting. But it also introduced the element of luck into the game. Nevertheless, the Commissioner (Brian) has also dominated this league, winning every title in the Late Night Basketball Associations.

Here's the order of finish in the pro basketball leagues, with teams listed first, followed by the owner:

1999 Ultra: First Place -- Cincinnati Sharks, Brian W.;

Second Place -- West Branch Brewers, Chaz P.

1999 Standard: First Place -- Miami Matadors, Brian W.;

Second Place -- Minnesota Timbers, Tim S.

1998: First Place -- Cincinnati Sharks, Brian W.;

Second Place -- Milton SharpShooters, Chuck S.

1997: First Place -- Cincinnati Sharks, Brian W.;

Second Place -- Milton Minutemen, Chuck S.

1996: First Place (declared cochampions) -- Cincinnati Sharks, Brian W.; and New York Nightmares, Lonnie S.
(Note that, although the Sharks won the final game in 1996, the two owners competing in the Finals agreed before the final night of play that they would be co-champions.)

1995: First Place -- Cincinnati Sharks, Brian W.;

Second Place -- Miami Matadors, Brian W.

Second Owner (Third Place) -- Raleigh Rattlers, Tim S.

1994: First Place -- Cincinnati Sharks, Brian W.;
