Greenbears Hockey Records

Hockey has not been a very popular fantasy league sport, until recently. The surge of interest in hockey, propelled by ESPN and Fox TV contracts plus video game sales, has helped make this a more interesting fantasy league sport. Software and stats provided by FSPI made this league viable again in 1998.

In 1992, we had a draft to pick fantasy hockey teams. In 1993, we had our first fantasy hockey league. Getting stats on a regular basis was the toughest thing back then. (It's probably why we never did it again until 1998.)

After a long hiatus due to lack of interest, hockey was revived for the 1997-98 season as a "group the teams" type competition resembling the college contests. In 1998-99, we again held a full fantasy league. However, the move to online leagues pushed us back to a grouping contest in 1999-2000.

Here are the standings for every season, plus the winning lineups:
